Nicole E. Kenney, M.P.P. is a wellness activist and budding Philadelphia filmmaker. Her documentary and wellness program, It Starts With Me!, is based on her experiences as a high achieving millennial woman searching for her purpose while navigating her obsessions with busyness, stress, the superwoman complex and society’s ideals of self – worth, value and perfection. She uses her story, at congressional briefings on the Hill in Washington, DC, non –profits, corporations, churches, and colleges, to inspire and motivate women and girls to walk in their purpose and become their best selves.
In addition to being a filmmaker, Ms. Kenney is a strategic communications consultant with over a decade of experience in the non-profit sector. She formerly served as a Senior Communications Associate for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People’s (NAACP) in Washington, D.C. A fitness enthusiast, Ms. Kenney is an internationally certified Les Mills BodyPump (weight lifting) and Les Mills CXWorx (core) instructor and she teaches at the YMCA, where she was recently recognized as Instructor of the Quarter. Her mission is to recruit, motivate, and empower especially women and girls, to reach greater self-love through strength and core training.
A proud Philadelphia native, Ms. Kenney received her Bachelor of Arts in Government and Psychology from Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, where she was a Barbara Jordan Public Policy award recipient. She earned a Master of Arts in Public Policy from The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. She is earning her personal trainer certification from the American Council on Exercise.
