Jalondra Davis

Jalondra A. Davis is a Black feminist artist-intellectual, a writer, scholar and educator in Los Angeles, CA. She holds a BA in English from Loyola Marymount University, Master of Professional Writing from the University of Southern California, and Ph.D. in Ethnic Studies from University of California, Riverside. Her work focuses on black political discourse and women, gender, and sexuality in Black/Africana popular literatures and culture. Her current project “On Queens and Monsters: Black Women’s Science Fiction and the Black Political Imagination” looks at how black women’s speculative fiction contests disciplinary narrative discourses surrounding black femininity. She is also the author of a coming-of-age novel entitled Butterfly Jar, about a black girl named Tanis growing up and acting up.
